Is Omaha Promoting School Segregation?

Although Bill 1024 is a 172 page document, the media is busy lighting a match to a segment of potentially explosive content, which, by the way, comprises a mere 1.5 pages of the Bill.

The issue? The Nebraska Legislature voted Thursday to pass the new Bill, which threatens to divide the 45,000-student Omaha school system into three districts: one mostly black, one predominantly white, and one largely Hispanic. Republican Governor Dave Heineman has already signed the measure into law.
